Greetings, I am Wagner Ramírez, artisan liquor maker.
Raise your hands those who are addicted to Coca Cola ...
I also…
I imagine
they are fed up with nosy people who tell them: “Coca Cola is poison, it is
used to clean toilets, it causes gastric cancer, it is addictive, it has
cocaine, it removes rust from metal, it stains the teeth, it enlarges the stomach,
or it has a lot of sugar”.
But, even
if we do not like it, something will be right. The main problem with Coca Cola
is neither caffeine, carbon dioxide, nor sugar, it is phosphoric acid.
For this reason,
I decided to make a substitute for Coca Cola, just for fun.
If you are
looking for a recipe that achieves the same flavor, but is not harmful to your
health, you are in the wrong place.
Otherwise,
if you want a dark, natural, caffeinated, and spicy drink, you are in the right
place.
The process
has three steps: Preparation of the Macerate, Preparation of the Syrup and
Preparation of the soft drink.
The Macerate
Ingredients
1 sachets
of black or red tea.
25 g of
Anise.
20 g of
coriander seeds.
20 g of
Nutmeg.
20 g of
Clove.
2 g of
Orange Peel.
5 g of dehydrated Spearmint.
16 g of
dehydrated blackberry.
5 g of
Cinnamon Bark.
5 g of dehydrated Ginger.
2 g of
lemon peel.
1000 ml of
water.
Process
Put all the
ingredients in a covered pot and keep at 60 degrees Celsius for 60 minutes.
Don't let it boil.
Strain the
mash through a very fine strainer.
The Syrup
If you want
your soda even healthier, you can eliminate the sugar and sweeten with your favorite substitute.
Ingredients
600 ml of
mash.
300 g of
brown sugar.
Process
While the
mash is still hot, add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
Soft Drink Version 10%
sugar and 8 mg of Caffeine
160 ml of
carbonated water or bottled water.
40 ml of
syrup.
Makes 200
ml.
I remind
you that 200 ml of Coca Cola has 10% sugar and 16 mg of caffeine. In addition
to phosphoric acid. It is up to you to choose which proportion suits your
tastes.
You can
also carbonate your drink with inexpensive homemade equipment that is becoming
fashionable.
